Bio

Bryan Hoch has covered New York baseball for more than two decades, serving as MLB.com’s Yankees beat reporter since 2007. He is a past chair of the New York chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and hosted the chapter’s 2023 awards dinner at the New York Hilton Midtown, seated beside Aaron Judge and Spike Lee.

Hoch is the author of "62: Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees and the Pursuit of Greatness." His other books include "The Baby Bombers: The Inside Story of the Next Yankees Dynasty," "Mission 27: A New Boss, A New Ballpark and One Last Ring for the Yankees' Core Four," and "The Bronx Zoom: Inside the New York Yankees’ Most Bizarre Season."

A native of Sloatsburg, N.Y., Hoch began his journalism career as a freshman at Suffern High School by launching a “Mets Online” website that eventually helped him into major league press boxes. Since joining the Yankees beat, he has covered seismic events including the closing of old Yankee Stadium, the 2009 World Series championship, and the final years of the Core Four. He also once drove through the night from New Jersey just to cover a game at the Field of Dreams movie site in Iowa!

Hoch has made numerous television and radio appearances, including occasional work as a fill-in clubhouse reporter on the YES Network. He is active on social media, including hosting fan Q&A sessions on Instagram under the banner “Hochy Happy Hour.” His work has also appeared in Yankees Magazine, Baseball Digest, and other publications.

A two-time New York City Marathon finisher who still fondly remembers getting a Fantasy Camp hit off a Jeff Nelson slider, Hoch loves movies, especially "Back to the Future." He's a student of sports history and enjoys collecting vintage baseball cards. Bryan lives with his wife, Connie, and their daughters Penny, Maddie, and Josie.
